Elbert Hale

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Elbert Hale, 94, of Harrisburg, passed away at 12:08 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 12, 1916, in Saline County to the late Allen and Josie (Day) Hale. On June 23, 1989, he married Helen Marie (Wallace) and she survives.

Elbert was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, a Navy Veteran of World War II, a Shriner and a 32nd Degree Mason of the McKinley Masonic Lodge No. 712 in Hammond, Ind. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his wife, Helen Marie Hale, he is survived by three daughters, Shirley Wheeler of Venice, Fla., Joanne Coler of Beacher and Phyllis and husband Wade Barnett of South Daytona, Fla.; a sister, Marie Irish of Valparaiso, Ind.; five grandchildren, Jack and Mark Wheeler, Ron and wife Shannon Kammer, Donna Thompson and Diane and husband David Smith; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg with the Rev. Loy Barger officiating and the Rev. Joe Poirot assisting. Burial will be in Sunset Garden Cemetery with military rites by the Harrisburg American Legion and Carrier Mills Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at the Internet site www.reedfuneralchapel.com.
