Gertie Crawford

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Gertie Crawford, 89, Harrisburg, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

She was born June 11, 1920, in Harrisburg, the daughter of Lewis Monroe and Hallie Turner Newcomb. She was married to George Crawford, and he preceded her in death in 1989.

Gertie is survived by one daughter, Shirley Jeanett Smith of Harrisburg; four brothers, Henry Newcomb of Elgin, Wenzel Newcomb of Florida, Willard Newcomb of Harrisburg and Donald Newcomb of Elgin; two grandchildren, Kenneth Joe Dowdy and partner Jeremy Hornback of Paducah, Ky., and Lee and husband Donald Weberling of Harrisburg; nine great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at the J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating and burial in Bethel Creek Cemetery. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
