Nora Jean Bates

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mrs. Nora Jean Bates, 76, of Broughton, passed away at 8:40 a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

She was the widow of Harold F. Bates.

Nora was born in Broughton on July 4, 1933, the daughter of the late William and Mayme (Campbell) Littlefield.

She attended Raleigh First Baptist Church.

Prior to retirement she worked as a clerk at Bethlehem Steel Corp. in Burns Harbor, Ind.

Nora is survived by two daughters, Connie Sue Bates of Broughton and Christy (David) Johnson of Lake Station, Ind.; two sons, Harold D. (Debra) Bates of Portage, Ind., and Ronald D. (Donna) Bates of Portage, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold (Eva) Littlefield of Norris City.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nora was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Lee Shroyer and Mary Jane Brooks; a brother, Billy Norman Littlefield; a grandson, Gene Gibbons Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher Daniel Harder and Zachary David Harder.

Funeral services will be held at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 30, 2010, with the Rev. Mike Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Northfork Cemetery in Broughton.

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home.
