Van Ward
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Van Ward, 78, of Enfield, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at his residence in Enfield.
He was born July 9, 1931. in Bluford, the son of Floyd Daniel and Ruth Alta (Tharp) Ward. He married Carolin Jane Brock on Aug. 7, 1970, and she preceded him in death on April 21, 1975. He then married Janet Kay Hayes on May 21, 1977.
Van was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. and a longtime White County businessman. He began his working career in his father's business, Ward's Tire in Carmi, was truck manager at Absher Chevrolet in Carmi, and owned and operated Van's Truck Sales in Enfield.
Van was a member of Star General Baptist Church. He was a past president of Midwest Trucker's Association and advisory board member, a former Enfield School Board member, a lifetime Quail Unlimited sponsor, a member of National Wildlife Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, American Legion and an avid outdoorsman.
Van is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jan Ward of Enfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and John Campbell of Carmi; eight grandchildren, Alexa, Nicole, Caroline, Lauren, Jake, Keyna, Jessica and Johanna Campbell; a daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Bob Allyn of Carmi; a son, Daniel Van Ward of Carmi; two grandchildren, Jason and Sara Organ; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Ann and Ted Smith of Carmi; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Marilyn Ward of Carmi; a sister-in-law and her husband, Alice Mae and Clyde Woodrow of Enfield; and extended family and close friends, Danny Dennis and Debbie Stone.
Funeral Services for Van Ward, 78, of Enfield will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010, at the Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with the Rev. Curt Yarbrough officiating. Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 28 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Van E.
