The Rev. Estel Leon Dunning

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Rev. Estel Leon Dunning, 77, Carrier Mills, died 6:18 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Jeff Owens and the Rev. Jim Ashford officiating. Burial will be in Simmons Cemetery near Creal Springs. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2010, at the funeral home.

He was born on June 3, 1932, in Independence Township, Saline County, to the late Marion Thomas and Elsie Ellis (Graves) Dunning. He married the former Jacqueline Cannon on Oct. 27, 1963, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 23, 2001.

He was a retired minister. He was a member and former pastor of Olive General Baptist Church. He also pastored at many area churches. He also was a past member of the Licenery Ministry Board.

He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by a stepdaughter, Sharon (Larry) Stricklin Evetts of Creal Springs and three other children; a sister, Delores (William) Hull of Carrier Mills; two grandchildren, Jamie (Daniel) Benton of Harrisburg and Laren (Cyla) Evetts of Creal Springs; five great-grandchildren, Emily, Gabriel and Arista Benton, all of Harrisburg, and Moriah and Caleb Evetts, both of Creal Springs.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Dunning; parents; two brothers, James Dunning and Leroy Dunning; and a sister, Maxine York.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Oxford in his memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
