Gregory 'Kroger' Kane

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Gregory "Kroger" Kane, 90, of Ridgway died Monday, April 26, 2010, at the Harrisburg Medical Center.

Kroger, as most knew him, was born on Nov. 17, 1919, in Ridgway to the late Ed and Elfreda (Wenzel) Kane.

He served his country in World War II in the United States Army. Greg retired from the Olin Corporation in Alton. He was married to the former Pat (Dempsey) Kane, who preceded him death.

Greg was a faithful member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ridgway, was a member of the Ridgway American Legion and VFW where he served many years on the Honor Guard. Greg loved horse racing, Cardinals baseball and driving around town making his usual stops. He will be greatly missed by the community.

Greg is survived by a sister, Amelia Checki of Wisconsin; granddaughter, Lisa Montgomery of Equality; and 15 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and one brother.

Funeral Mass for Greg will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ridgway with Fr. Mark Stec celebrating Mass. Viewing for Greg will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. Interment will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Equality with military rites by the Ridgway American Legion and VFW.
