The Eldorado Eagles defeated the Carrier Mills Wildcats 21-18. The Daily Journal/Daily Register sincerely regret the error.
The Eldorado Eagles and Carrier Mills Wildcats turned the Eldorado Sports Complex into Coors Field South as the teams combined for 39 runs in a wild 21-18 win for host Eldorado.
A 21-18 game - which fans might think would have been played at the nearby football field - was a barn-burner as Eldorado's generated a ton of offense early. The Eagles pushed across eight runs in the first two innings, along with a single run in the third as the team jumped out to a 9-6 lead against the Wildcats.
While Eldorado's top three hitters - Nick Houseright, Devin Aldridge and Brennan Unthank - combined to go 9-for-15 in the game with eight runs scored to fuel the offense, it was J.R. Brown who took the brunt of the damage, allowing 11 runs on 11 hits in two innings.
After Carrier Mills cut the deficit to 9-7, the Eagles put up a major rally in the fourth, scoring eight times to take a 17-7 lead. The Wildcats would rally with a five-run top of the fifth inning and a pair of three run frames in the sixth and seventh.
However, Eldorado had one more big inning in them, a four-run bottom of the sixth inning that proved to be enough for the Eagles to earn a hard-fought victory.
