Bessie Fulkerson

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Bessie Fulkerson, 101, Eldorado, formerly a longtime resident of the Dorrisville area, passed away at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado.

Bessie was born on Thursday, March 12, 1908, in Hardin County to the late Otis and Magnolia Banks. She married George Fulkerson on Saturday, April 21, 1928, and he preceded her in death on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1996. She was a member of the Mt. Calvary General Baptist Church.

Bessie is survived by five children, a son, Randall Fulkerson of Harrisburg; a daughter, Wanda (Prather) Wise and husband Bob of Harrisburg; a son, Larry Fulkerson of Harrisburg; and two sons, Don Fulkerson and wife Margie of Galatia and Kenneth Fulkerson and wife Vicki of Elizabethtown; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; twin brother, Jessie Banks; three sisters, Tessie Henderson, Virgie Fulkerson and Eula Hooten; half-brother, Glendell Banks; half-sister, Pauline Donaldson; one grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Jared Mitchell will officiate; burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to Fountain View Residence Fund and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
