James Clayton Oliver

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mr. James Clayton Oliver, 78, of Middlebury, Ind., formerly of Eldorado, passed away at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at his residence. He was the husband of Lillian (Turner) Oliver, who survives.

Clayton was born in Eldorado on April 16, 1931, the son of the late Royal B. and Marie (Thaxton) Oliver. He attended Hillside Missionary Church in South Bend, Ind.

He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in the Korean War and was a Purple Heart Recipient. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the American Legion, New Carlisle, Ind chapter. He worked as a supervisor at Carborundum prior to retirement.

In addition to his wife, Clayton is survived by two daughters, Brenda Markham of Middlebury, Ind., Cheryl M. (Christopher) Rimbaugh of Elkhart, Ind.; three sons, James L. (Loretta) Oliver of Middlebury, Ind., John C. (Marilyn) Oliver of Waterford, Mich. and Daniel L. (Elvira) Oliver of Amarillo, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Martha (Earl) Christie of Norris City, Wanda Lou (James) Shatzshall of Athens, Texas and Wilma (Jerry) Merideth of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and a daughter-in-law, Janice Oliver of Shipshewana, Ind.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Rodney E. Oliver.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home, Eldorado. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery with military honors.
