Ray D. Asbell
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Ray D. Asbell, 67, of Montgomery, passed away on Feb. 12, 2010, surrounded by his family.
He was born on Nov. 10, 1942, the son of William and Sarah Asbell in Herrin. Ray was a member of the Tiger Club, Eagles Club and the Sportsman Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. Ray was employed by Safeway, National T, A&P and later retired from Jewel.
He is survived by his wife Marianna, his children, Debbie Asbell of Hinckley, Terri (Mark) Lockwood of Oswego, Trudi (Jeff) Johnson of Plano and Jessica (Ian) Lindahl of Yorkville; grandchildren, Leslie (Anthony) Martel, Ben Brantley, Jamie Bartholomew, Katie, Mark and Kevin Lockwood, Sarah and Rachel Johnson, Meranda, Billie Joe and Josh Ford, Ryder and Evie Lindahl and Jenna and Bryan Bartholomew; great-grandchildren, Emma Schaich, Makaela Lockwood, Anthony Martel and Tristan Ford; sisters, Dixie (Wells) Orton, Vicky (Gary) Rumsey, Sue (Tom) Boyer and many special nieces and nephews and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Heather Asbell; his parents; a brother, William (Marilyn) Asbell; and a sister, Bettye Hall.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Family received guests from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave., Montgomery, Ill. 60538. A private burial will take place in Harrisburg at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
