Dr. Fred Faughn

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Dr. Fred Faughn, 69, Harrisburg, passed away on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, Marion.

He was born on Nov. 26, 1941, in Metropolis to the late Howard G. and Meriam (Holifield) Faughn.

Dr. Faughn received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. He was a Lutheran priest and counselor.

Surviving family members include his brother, Howard Faughn of Metropolis; and a sister, Katherine Vaughan of Phoenix City, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen (Groves) Faughn, with whom he raised 36 foster children; and one brother, Jack Faughn.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Frank Schroeder will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
