Emma J. Kent
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Emma J. Kent, 89, of Marion, passed away at 7:46 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at her home in Marion surrounded by her loving family.
Emma was born on April 10, 1920, in Harrisburg to Joseph and Patricia (Welps) Bugdonis. She married Robert L. Kent on Christmas Eve, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1989.
She retired from Sangamo electric in the Ordill area where she worked on the production line and then owned Kent's Pastry Shop in Marion.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marion. She was a compassionate and caring person who enjoyed reading romance and mystery novels, but most enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jack Keller and his staff and to the staff and volunteers of Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Boles and husband Larry of Marion; three grandchildren, Cathy Duvall and husband Mike of Marion, Bob Boles and wife Donna of Marion and Mike Boles and wife Marilyn of Marion; seven great-grandchildren, Chuck Hill and wife Sarah, Josh Hill and wife Mattie, Danielle Boles, Jessica Boles, Nick Boles, Luke Boles and Daniel Boles; and eight great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Ethan Hill, Kirissa, Lindsey, Matthew and Logan Hill, Delton Boles and Anthony Boles-Whitmire.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Robert Leon Kent; and one infant sister, Helen Bugdonis.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. The Rev. Monsignor Thomas Flach and the Rev. David Landis will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
