Gladys Erna Mae Coker

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Gladys Erna Mae Coker, 80, Thompsonville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Gladys was born in Giddings, Texas, on May 18, 1929, to the late Paul G. and Matilda Louise (Noack) Malke. She married Gilbert M. Coker on June 15, 1957, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 2005. She was a homemaker.

Gladys is survived by four children, Steve Duncan and wife Judi of Summit, Miss., David Coker and wife Susan of Eldorado, James Coker and wife Lori of Du Quoin and Donna Hunt and husband Steve of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Bennett and husband Dennis of California; and several nieces and nephews.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Matilda Malke; husband, Gilbert; two sisters, Hilda Cason and Ellen Baker; one brother, Johnny Malke; and one great-granddaughter, Madison Wagner.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. The Rev. Jerry Williams will officiate; burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Sloan Funeral Home.
