Sarah Nadine Gholson

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Sarah Nadine Gholson, 91, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Southern Illinois, passed away at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at the Horizon Health Care Center in Daytona, Fla.

Sarah was born July 6, 1918, in Franklin County, the daughter of Leman and Nola Idella (Kimmel) McClerren. She married George S. Gholson and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1993.

Sarah taught elementary school for over 20 years in several one-room schools in Saline and Franklin counties. She last taught at the Bixler School before her retirement in 1956. Following retirement, she and her husband moved to Port Orange, Fla.

She is survived by her sisters, Betty L. Small and husband Roger of Port Orange, Fla. and Oma Lee Lewis and husband David of Harrisburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Carl McClerren; and two sisters, Anna Mae Williams and Leone Maurer.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with prayers led by Mr. Ted Boulds. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
