Robert 'Bob' Boyd
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Robert "Bob" Boyd, 77, South Chicago Heights, died 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at St. James Hospital, Olympia Fields.
He was born April 7, 1932, in Stonefort to William E. and Emma (Graves) Boyd. On June 26, 1952, he married Sue Noonan, who survives.
He was an Army veteran and a steel mill roll turner for former Inland Steel and Chicago Steel. He was a member of St. Liborius Catholic Church in Steger and an arbitrator for the Steel Workers Union. Bob enjoyed returning to Southern Illinois to his retirement home in rural Pope County, playing cards, reading and learning the history of Southern Illinois.
In addition to his wife, Sue Boyd, he is survived by a daughter, Rene (David) Bamonti of South Chicago Heights; a daughter, Holly (Michael) Skowronski of Naperville; five grandchildren, the pride and joys of his life, Gianna, Brian and Olivia Bamonti, Andrew (Lauren) Skowronski and Daniel Skowronski; a great-granddaughter, Summer Skowronski; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his cat, Ringo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Bernice Kathryn, Phyllis, Rosemary, Marge and Midge; and a brother, Lloyd "Bud" Boyd.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2010 at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with Father Wilbert Iffert officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Carrier Mills.
Visitation is 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home. The family prefers memorials to the A.S.P.C.A. or local Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
