Louis Oliver Rollins Sr.
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Louis Oliver Rollins Sr., 73, of Lexington, Tenn., formerly of Carrier Mills, died 1:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Regional Hospital in Jackson, Tenn.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Ownly Williams officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
He was born Nov. 12, 1936, in Carrier Mills to the late Reuben Rollins Sr. and Eva (Cole) Rollins.
He graduated Carrier Mills High School in 1956 where he excelled in basketball, becoming the school's leading scorer, a record he still holds today. After high school, he played one year with the Harlem Globetrotters.
He later joined the Army. After his tour of duty with the service he worked for General Motors in Flint, Mich., where he retired as a foreman.
He is survived by five children, Louis Rollins Jr. of Fort Bragg, N.C., Kelly Duncan of Jackson, Tenn., Todd Rollins of Harrisburg, Stephanie Rollins of Flint, Mich., and Brandon Evans of Carrier Mills; a sister, Marilyn Witherspoon of Evansville, Ind.; a brother, Reuben Rollins Jr. of Flint, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a child; and a brother, Vernon Rollins.
