</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[John Wayne Thomas, 75, 601 N. Webster St., Harrisburg, died 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at Shawnee Rose Care Center, Harrisburg.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Harl Cockrum officiating. Burial will be in Wise-Robinson Cemetery near Ozark with military rites by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
He was born on Sept. 7, 1934, in New Burnside to the late Ernest T. and Flossie May (Wise) Thomas.
He was a retired nursing home administrator and also a construction worker. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a 50-year member of the American Legion.
He is survived by a son, John (Jacqueline) Thomas II of Sugar Grove, W.Va.; a daughter, Geri (John) Thilking of Lynchburg, Va.; seven grandchildren, Bryan Thomas, Eric Thomas, Felicia Thomas and Caitlin Thomas, all of Sugar Grove, W.Va., Jefferey Thilking of Knoxville, Tenn., David Thilking of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Bryan Thilking of Lynchburg, Va.; and a special friend and caregiver, Kimberly Abell of Harrisburg.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Hankins.
