Charles W. 'Chuck' Lanfear

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Charles W. "Chuck" Lanfear, 62, a resident of Lake of Egypt, Marion, passed away at 2:17 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at his home in Lake of Egypt, Marion, after a painful illness of cancer of approximately five years.

Chuck was born March 19, 1947 in Joliet to Charles F. Lanfear and Loretta (Ready).

Chuck is survived by his wife of 19 years, Alma (George), formerly of New Burnside.

Other survivors include his father, Charles "Chuck" F. and Wanda Lanfear of Vienna; a sister, Mary (Mike) Scarborough of Simpson; a brother, Tom (Julie) Lanfear of Crest Hill; three stepsisters, Renee, Colleen and Phyllis and families; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Patty George and family of Marion; children, Suzi Barker of Bear Creek, N.C., Major Charles "Charley" Lanfear, currently stationed in Iraq, and his wife Pam of Bridgeport, Texas; Jodi and Brian Duhon of Cumming, Ga., Neil and Christie Bundren of Metropolis, Ramona and Kyle Schwartz of Harrisburg; 14 grandchildren, Samantha, Bailey, Katelyn, Cason, Tyler, Ashley, Elizabeth, Henry, Bruce, Kyle Jr. and his wife Krystal, Nicholas, Justin, Dylan and Jessica; one great-grandchild, Sadie; an uncle, Pete (Marge) Ready; an aunt, Rosemary (Bob) Koch; and many nieces, nephews and relatives.

Chuck was preceded in death by his mother, Loretta (Ready) Lanfear.

Chuck was a born-again Christian and attended Hickory Grove Christian Church any time health permitted. Chuck was retired from the heating/air conditioning field after being an over-the-road truck driver. He was also a hog farmer in the Vienna area for a number of years.

Chuck was the unofficial consultant for anyone, both near and far, for any type of problem they had. There didn't seem to be a problem he did not know how to fix.

He enjoyed boating and "bargain hunting."

Chuck had many wonderful friends and relatives, both near and far, who continued to stand by him through his illness with visits, telephone calls and questions only he could answer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Rodney Chappell and Pastor Carl "Dink" Phelps will officiate. Burial will be in the Wise-Robinson Cemetery near Ozark. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
