Mary L. Brooks

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mary L. Brooks, 68, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Shawneetown, passed away at 5:24 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at the Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

She was born in Shawneetown on March 24, 1941, the daughter of Ray and Gladys (Wood) Rigsby.

Mary was employed at Motel 6 as a housekeeper and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Waltonville.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Valerie Brooks of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Barbara Stacey of Shawneetown and Naomi and Amos Bradley of Waukegan; one brother, Robert and Ellen Rigsby of South Fulton, Tenn.; her dear friend, Alfred Clark of Mount Vernon; and three grandchildren, Derek, Shannon and Brooke.

She was preceded in death by parents; sister, Dianne Perry; and three brothers, Marshall, Hershel and Paul Rigsby.

Visitation for Mary will be held from 10 a.m. to service time at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. The Rev. Bob Powell will be officiating with burial at Hogan Cemetery near Shawneetown.
