Kathryn V. 'Nell' Lamb

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Kathryn V. "Nell" Lamb, 88, of Ridgway, passed away at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at Herrin Hospital in Herrin.

She was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Golconda to John O. and Mary Addie (Brown) Lamb.

Kathryn took pride in being a registered nurse, serving with distinction as a U.S. Army nurse during World War II and continuing as a practicing nurse at several locations until her retirement, when she took up residence in Ridgway.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Earl Lamb; and six sisters, Margaret Lamb, Audrey Jacobs, Claudine Bocock, Geneva Reid, Loree Kuehne and Leota Sasser.

She is survived by her sister, Alene Dillard, of Ridgway; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Kathryn will be at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009. The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at the chapel with Pastor Rob Gallion officiating, followed by interment at Jackson Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Ridgway American Legion Post No. 596.

Kathryn was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Ridgway.
