Artie Lenora (Cole) Chachere

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Artie Lenora (Cole) Chachere, 88, Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Carrier Mills, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at Lakeview Cemetery, Carrier Mills. There will be no visitation; all friends should come directly to the cemetery. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born on Feb. 7, 1921, in Carrier Mills to the late Benjamin Henry and Lenora Jane (Taborn) Cole. She married Louis Elton Chachere on May 23, 1942, in Missouri. He preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 1966.

She attended Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She was employed by the Los Angeles Sentinel newspaper and the United States Postal Service.

She is survived by a son, Louis Elton (Naima) Chachere Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif.; two daughters, B. Lucille (Samuel) Leonard of Cypress, Ga., and Olga Chachere of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Lina (Sam) Witherspoon of Carrier Mills; an aunt, Leora Norton of Flint, Mich.; five grandchildren; one stepgrandson; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a grandson; a brother, John Vincent Cole; and three sisters, Mary Marcella Pierce, Lucille Mooreland and Corintha Chavis.
