Victor I. Cook

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Victor I. Cook, 55, of Whispering Oaks in Rosiclare, passed away at 1:57 a.m., Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

He was born Nov. 24, 1953, in Kirksville, Mo., the son of Melvin F. Cook and Lafreda (Pike) Cook.

He was preceded in death by both parents and a nephew.

Surviving is a sister, Avis Sauls of Omaha; sister, Melinda Barber of Gillespie; brothers, Matthew and Travis Cook of Indiana. He will be sadly missed by many local nieces and nephews and ten great-nieces and nephews who knew and loved him well.

Victor will also be missed by staff and residents of Whispering Oaks in Rosiclare. He loved people, going to workshop and shopping. In 2009 he won gold at the Special Olympics, went on to compete at state and came home with a bronze medal in softball throw. He greatly loved his family, friends and our heavenly father.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Omaha. Burial will follow at Palestine Two Cemetery near Omaha.
