Kermit W. Albin, 71, was arrested 5:45 p.m. Tuesday on 50 charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and 40 charges of aggravated criminal sexual assault. He remains held at the Saline County Detention Center awaiting a court appearance.

On Monday, Aug. 31, Harrisburg Police received a complaint of possible criminal sexual assault of two children, according to a news release from the Harrisburg Police Department. Officer Tom Leverett responded and the following morning notified investigator Curt Hustedde. Interviews with the victims pointed to Albin committing numerous acts with two children under age 10 over the past two years.

Leverett and Hustedde interviewed Albin and obtained a confession to the sexual assaults of the children, according to the release. More charges are pending after more investigation and interviews with other possible victims.

"The investigation is ongoing, but these are the charges he is being held on right now," Chief Bob Smith said.

Albin, a professional photographer, has operated Kermit Albin Studio for decades out of his residence at 1807 Green St., Harrisburg. Smith said he does not believe the victims were clients.

"As far as at this time, we don't have any indication they were clients," Smith said.

The case has been sent to State's Attorney Mike Henshaw for prosecution.
