Dorman E. 'D.G.' Glass
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Dorman E. "D.G." Glass, 79, of Harrisburg, died at 6:55 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at his residence in Harrisburg.
Dorman was born on Aug. 31, 1930, in Harrisburg to the late George W. and Mary P. (Jones) Glass. He married Beaulah Hedger on Oct. 31, 1948, and she preceded him in death in May 1992. He later married Mary Nell Allen on Jan. 15, 1994, and she survives in Harrisburg.
He was a retired coal miner; he worked for Will Scarlet and Arch Mineral at Willisville. Dorman was a 50-year member of the Harrisburg Masonic Lodge; he was also a member of the Harrisburg Elks and the Eldorado Men's Club. He loved the outdoors, deer hunting, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Dorman is survived by his wife, Mary Glass of Harrisburg; two sons, John David Glass of Ponte Vedra, Fla. and George Glass and wife Nancy of Marion; one daughter, Mary Jean Casey and husband David of Equality; a stepson, Harold G. Fletcher of Michigan City, Ind.; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Gail E. Glass and wife Connie of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Dr. Blaine Welker will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Josh Swain; burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009 at Reed Funeral Chapel with Masonic rites at 7 p.m. by the Harrisburg Masonic Lodge No. 325. For those who wish memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
