Karen Maye Leffler
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Karen Maye Leffler, 65, of Mattoon, passed away at 9:40 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at her residence.
Funeral services honoring her life will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at the Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Ave., Mattoon, with Pastor Brandon Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. No visitation is planned.
Karen was born Oct. 15, 1943, in Du Quoin, a daughter of Dorothy (Doolin) Voorhees Beard and H. A. Beard. She married Marvin E. Leffler on Jan. 17, 1964.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin Leffler of Mattoon; her son, Terry A. Leffler and wife Connie Lynn of Mattoon; her daughter, Sherrie Adams and husband Dale of Paris; two sisters, Rheba Sauerbrunn of Marion and Bonnie Sue Hopson of Equality; seven grandchildren, Heatherann Dowell, Brandy Smith and husband Mike, Dezaray Baker, all of Mattoon, Stephanie Adams of Palmer, Shelby Taylor, Dustin Adams, and Dalton Adams, all of Paris; two great-granddaughters, Isabella Smith and Madison Smith, both of Mattoon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Leffler was formerly employed at Jackson Restaurant, Villa Nova Restaurant, Brown Shoe Factory, Knowles Cafeteria, and Hydro Gear in Sullivan. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Memorial gifts in her honor are suggested to Lincolnland Hospice, Home Health Care or American Cancer Society.
