Cindy Sniderwin
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Cindy Sniderwin, 47, of Benton, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, following a lengthy battle caused by surgical complications.
Cindy was born on Sept. 12, 1961, in Belleville to Ronnie and Alice (Wiggs) Greenwood of Benton; they survive. She married Steven Sniderwin of Benton on Nov. 14, 1981; and he survives.
Cindy graduated from Benton High School in 1979. Cindy was a stay-at-home mother until her two children started school. Cindy received her bachelor's degree in social work in 1996 and her master's in social work in 2003 from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
Cindy worked at Rend Lake College for many years and was employed as a therapist at Illinois Behavioral Health until becoming ill in November 2008.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Steve of Benton; two children, Mary Beth, currently of Marion, and Andrew of Benton; her parents, Ron and Alice Greenwood and her mother- and father-in-law, Charles (Cecil) and Gerry Sniderwin, all of Benton. Cindy is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mark and Robyn Snow; niece, Andrea Snow; nephew, Matthew Snow, all of Benton; and special friend, Travis Sullivan of Harrisburg. Cindy had many wonderful cousins, uncles, aunts, and great-uncles and aunts.
Cindy enjoyed traveling, shopping, reading, making jewelry, scrapbooking until all hours of the night with her "bridesmaids" and playing with her grandpuppy, Peaches. Cindy was a wonderful woman who touched many with her kind heart and positive spirit.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at Hobbs- Johnson Funeral Home, Benton. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at the funeral home with Pastor Derrick Cairel officiating. Burial will be at Masonic-Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton.
