Virgil Eugene 'Gene' Parks
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Virgil Eugene "Gene" Parks, 94, 206 Oak St., Carrier Mills, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, in Amarillo, Texas.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at Coal Bank Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Felty Funeral Home, Carrier Mills. A memorial service will be held immediately following the graveside service on Saturday at Indian Camp Baptist Church.
He was born on July 2, 1915, in Stonefort to the late Roy and Bessie (Chamness) Parks. He married Mallie Marie Tanner on Nov. 18, 1939, and she preceded him in death on April 9, 1993.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Indian Camp Baptist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Beverly (Phil) Faaborg of Dallas City; a daughter-in-law, Janice Parks of Georgetown, Ky.; a brother, Phillip Parks of Amarillo, Texas; six grandchildren, Angela, Tracey, Shannon, Tony, Tim and Troy; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mallie Parks; his parents; a son, Noel Parks; and three brothers, Roy Parks Jr., Orlie Parks Sr. and William F. Parks.
Memorial contributions may be made to Coal Bank Springs Cemetery.
