Walter 'Chief' G. Christie

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Walter "Chief" G. Christie, 63, 765 Moore Road, Eldorado, died 9:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at his residence.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Harold Miller and the Rev. Sonny Jackson officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Equality. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at the funeral home.

He was born May 3, 1946, in Stillwell, Okla., to Thomas and Lula Christie. On Feb. 14, 1990, he married the former Virginia Shea.

He was a truck driver for McDowell Trucking and R.G. Berry Trucking. He was a member of Honeycomb Church of God in Hardin County and attended Fairfield Full Gospel Pentecostal Church.

In addition to his wife in Eldorado, he is survived by four sons, Anthony L. Zirkelbach Jr. of Eldorado, Curtis L. Zirkelbach of Henderson, Ky., Micheal Paul Christie of Cave-In-Rock and Mark Wade Christie of Henderson, Ky.; two daughters, Misty (Gorfey) Thomas of Bloomington and Genny Elaine Zirkelbach of Madisonville, Ky.; three sisters, Liddy Christie, Shirley Christie and Annie Christie, all of Stillwell, Okla.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and three grandchildren, Gannon and Gavin Thomas and Camron Eaves.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or American Indian Society of Southern Illinois.
