Donald Eugene Wargel

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mr. Donald Eugene Wargel, 65, of Eldorado, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, at his residence.

Donald was born in Eldorado on May 5, 1944, the son of the late George Franklin and Johanna Barbara (Naas) Wargel.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Eldorado. He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He worked as a rural letter carrier prior to retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Eldorado VFW.

Donald is survived by five sisters, Lillian Miller of Evansville, Ind., Shirley (Clarence) Wolf of Evansville, Emily Bridges of Henderson, Ky., Mary Ruth (Ron) Rabe of Baker, Mont. and Linda Wargel of Eldorado; two brothers, James Wargel of Mt. Carmel and Larry Wargel of Eldorado; a special friend, Brenda Whittington; and two sisters-in-law, Marian Wargel and Johnsie Wargel, both of Eldorado.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Wargel and Paul Wargel; and one sister, Virginia Hobbs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Eldorado, at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, with Fr. Ignatius Okonkwo officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Eldorado. Visitation hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice and can be left at the funeral home.
