Betty L. Davis

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Betty L. Davis, 78, of 641 S. Washington, Du Quoin, formerly of Shawneetown, passed away at her home at 7:35 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009.

She was born in Shawneetown on July 12, 1931, the daughter of Millard and Alma (Thompson) Smith Sr. Betty married Raymond "Brownie" Davis on Feb. 25, 1951. Brownie preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 1981.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Gail and Raymond Lively of Wright City, Mo. and Robin and Aaron Hepp of Anna; three sons, Marshall Davis of Du Quoin, Charles Davis of Du Quoin and Mike and Tracy Davis of Tamaroa; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents; her husband; and one brother, Millard Smith Jr.

Visitation for Betty will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown, with a graveside service to follow at Hogan Cemetery near Shawneetown with the Rev. Ron Johnson officiating. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
