Carl 'Shorty' Stokich
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Carl "Shorty" Stokich, 69, Harrisburg, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, July 28, 2009.
Carl was born on June 2, 1940, to Carl and Eunice (Reynolds) Stokich in Harrisburg. In 1962, he married Carolyn "Sue" Ewell, who survives. She was the daughter of the Rev. Edward and Nona Ewell of Harrisburg.
"Shorty" was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. He was a volunteer fireman for 17 years. He worked for the city of Harrisburg for 28 years. He also owned and operated Shorty's Stump Removal. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and an Ainad Shriner. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Sue of Harrisburg; a daughter, Sheri Davis and husband William of Harrisburg; son, Michael D. Stokich of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Jared Stokich of Harrisburg, Devin Davis of Harrisburg, Blane (Jackie) Davis of Harrisburg and Dayne Davis of Eldorado; great-grandchildren, Brady and Brenden Davis of Harrisburg, Derrick Williams of De Soto and Kamden Stokich of Norris City; brothers, Orval Stokich of Harco and Bill Stokich and wife Donna of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Martin and Hazel Fern Stokich; a brother, Jimmy Dale Stokich; two nieces, Janie Lee Stokich and Cynthia Ann Dutton; nephew, Randy Dean Ewell; and father- and mother-in-law, the Rev. Edward and Nona Ewell.
He raised and was a father figure to Teresa Armstrong and Cynthia Ann Dutton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2009, at Reed Funeral Chapel. His brother-in-law, the Rev. Don Ewell, will officiate. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
