Gary Hearn
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Gary Hearn, 68, Creal Springs, passed away 1:35 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009, at the Helia Healthcare in Carbondale.
He was born on March 31, 1941, in Pittsburg to Ernest and Reathel (Morris) Hearn. He was married to Kathy (Killman) Robertson Hearn.
Gary was a foreman in the coal mines, working at Freeman No. 4 and Brushy Creek Mine. He was the former mayor of Creal Springs from 2000 to 2005. He attended the Creal Springs Methodist Church and was a member of the Stonefort Masonic Lodge. He was an avid bass fisherman and loved to buy and sell old farm equipment, along with working the Creal Springs Self Storage.
He is survived by two children, a son, Gary Hearn of Marion; and a daughter, Lisa Hearn, also of Marion; three grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Demita Robertson of Lake of Egypt; a brother, Roger (Elizabeth) Hearn of Marion; two sisters, Karen (Ray) McGee of Marion and Janet Malone of Goreville; five half-sisters, Kim Nevios of Goreville, Pam Wilson, Jodi Moore, Kathy Price and Sandy Small, all of Marion; father-in-law, J.D. "Jim" Killman; a brother-in-law, Hubert Malone Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2009, at the Cosby-Sloan Funeral Home in Creal Springs with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009, at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Woodard officiating. Burial will be in the County Line Cemetery.
There will be Masonic rites by the Stonefort Masonic Lodge at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
