Carl L. England

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Carl L. England, 82, Harrisburg, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion.

Carl was born on April 16, 1927, in Pocahontas, Ark., to the late Carl L. England Sr. and Jessie (Bottoms) England. Carl married Martha E. Ward on April 27, 1947.

He was a member of Gaskins City Baptist Church and an Army World War II veteran. He was a former member of the Hayti Rotary Club; he coached Little League for over 10 years; he was a lay minister for several local churches; he was the 1973 Citizen of the Year for the Harrisburg Lions Club and former Man of the Year for Hayti Civic Clubs.

Carl is survived by his wife, Martha; two sons, Garry England and wife Martha of Bartlesville, Okla. and Fred England and wife Kathy of Vincennes, Ind.; eight brothers and sisters survive, including his brother, Nolan England of Marion; six grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Elizabeth, Noah, Benjamin and Kimberly; and two great-grandchildren, Haylie and Wyatt.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Sr. and Jessie England; and one grandchild, Luke William England.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. G.E. Coultas will officiate; burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Memorial Gardens in Paragould, Ark. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
