Otis Oxford

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Otis Oxford, 70, of 11840 Pool Road, Equality, passed away at 7:12 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Otis was born Jan. 25, 1939 in Shawneetown to Lowell and Lydia B. (Smith) Oxford. He married Janet Engles on July 2, 1960.

Otis was a farmer and a member of Equality Social Brethren Church.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Oxford of Harrisburg; daughter, Georgia and Daren Roach of Johnston City; son, Michael and Sara Oxford of Equality; his mother, Lydia Oxford of Shawneetown; a daughter-in-law, Chronda Oxford of Equality; four sisters, Shirley and Ted Wood of Junction, Linda and Dean Jerrels of Elizabethtown, Connie and Rick Casey of Marion and Joan and Dennis Kaegi of Cave- in- Rock; sister-in-law, Ritha and Roger Yates of Carterville; five grandchildren, Dylan and Erin Roach, Lynzie Summers, Tyler Oxford and Brooklynde Oxford.

Otis was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Oxford; son, L.A. Oxford; brothers-in-law, Bill Matthews and Larry Osman; and sister-in-law, Margaret Matthews.

Visitation for Otis will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery near Equality.
