Gary 'Swiss' William Swiston

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Gary "Swiss" William Swiston, 63, Carrier Mills, died May 6, 2009.

He was born Dec. 29, 1945, to Elizabeth and Carl Swiston in Appleton, Wis.

Gary served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and was in the Vietnam War.

He was a former heavy equipment operator, a cross-country truck driver and a retired coal miner.

He retired from Black Beauty Coal Mine on Feb. 6, 2009.

He was a proud member of the Carrier Mills American Legion Post No. 364 and the Harrisburg Masons. Gary loved to ride his Harley, visit with his friends and was an avid reader.

Survivors include one daughter, Christina "Chrissy" Avery and husband Kelly of Grand Junction, Colo.; two grandchildren, MacKensie and Riley Avery; one sister, Carol and husband Jim Kelley; one brother, Dean and wife Janet Swiston; and four nephews and their families.

He was a loving father and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed.

The services will be held in Janesville, Wis., at Milton Lawns Memorial Park and Mausoleum at an undetermined time this summer.

Life is precious -- time is short.
