</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Jerry W. Roper, 54, Carrier Mills, died 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 10, 1954, in Harrisburg to Cecil and Thelma "Shorty" Sullivan Roper. He was married to Kathy Brannock.

He was a retired custodian with Carrier Mills-Stonefort Unit No. 2.

He is survived by his mother, Thelma "Shorty" Roper of Carrier Mills; his wife, Kathy Roper of Carrier Mills; a son, Justin (Ashley) Roper of Harrisburg; a brother, Jeff Roper of Carrier Mills; a sister, Carol (Jeff) Richey of Carrier Mills; a grandson, Jaxton Roper; a niece, Brooke Milburn; and two nephews, Jerret and Jayden Roper.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2009, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.
