Junior Alfred Phipps

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Junior Alfred Phipps, 90, Ripon, Wis. and Weirsvale, Fla., died Friday, May 8, 2009, at Florida.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Wesley Chapel Church near Eldorado with the Rev. Jim Allison officiating. Burial will be in Wesley Cemetery. Visitation is 1 p.m. to service time Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are in the charge of Watson Funeral Home, Eldorado.

He was born in Wood River on Sept. 26, 1918, to Clyde and Nora (Lawrence) Phipps. He married Pauline Swayze Phipps.

He was a crane operator for Common Wealth Stool in Granite City and was also a farmer. He attended First Baptist Church in Weirsvale, Fla. Mr. Phipps loved music and took organ lessons and learned to play the organ and the keyboard at the age of 80 years.

Mr. Phipps was preceded in death by his first wife, Velda Mae "Sauls" Phipps in 1986. In 1989, he married the former Pauline Swayze, who survives.

He is survived by a son, Alfred Dale Phipps of Eldorado; a stepson, Tracy (Laura) Swayze of Ripon, Wis.; a daughter, Arline (Bob) Clark of Weirsvale, Fla.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
