</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Vera Yates, 93, of 307 W. Walnut St., Carrier Mills, died 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Bennie Webb and the Rev. Larry Morse officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.

She was born on July 11, 1915, in Saline County to the late Raymond and Maggie (Mason) Gregg.

She was a member of the Main Street Church of God in Carrier Mills, where she played the piano for 65 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Jolene Killman of Carrier Mills and Donna Ferrell of Harrisburg; a son, Larry Yates of Joliet; a brother, Sammy Gregg of Burbank; a special friend, Kenny Lewis of Carrier Mills; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Arlene Yates; a grandson, Anthony Killman; a granddaughter, Jana Ferrell; and a great-grandson, Jeremy Ferrell.
