Harold Ross Oelheim

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Harold Ross Oelheim, 85, of Springfield, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on Nov. 15, 1923, in Harrisburg to Oscar Philip and Ethel M. Parks Oelheim. He married Hazel Bernice Angleton in Elizabethtown on Feb. 13, 1946.

His wife, Hazel of Springfield; a daughter, Lana O. Leiner of Wichita Falls, Texas; and a sister, Faye Oelheim of Springfield, survive him.

His parents; one brother, Lowell Oelheim; and one daughter, Linda Oelheim, preceded him in death.

He had worked as a telegrapher for St. Louis South Western Rail Road for 30 years. He later worked for several years as a welder and a farmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Springfield. He had been involved in his church for a long time. He served as a Sunday School teacher and as deacon. He was involved with the Royal Ambassadors Baseball League. He was also a volunteer worker within the community.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Springfield, with the Rev. Jeff Whitehouse officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. A committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2009, in Bankston Fork Cemetery in Harrisburg. Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Memorial Gardens Nature Preserve of Springfield, American Cancer Society or First Baptist Church in Springfield.
