Larry Gibbons
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Larry Gibbons, 50, of 412 Small St., Harrisburg, died at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Darrell Ford officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at the funeral home.
He was born on Dec. 11, 1958, in Harrisburg to the late Billy and Linda (Noonan) Gibbons.
He worked as a coal miner at Peabody Eagle No. 2 in Shawneetown for many years. He graduated Carrier Mills High School in 1977, where he played basketball and baseball. He later played legion baseball.
He attended Dorrisville Baptist Church for much of his life. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved Coca-Cola.
He is survived by a daughter, Meagan Gibbons of Rosiclare; a son, Christopher Gibbons of Harrisburg; a brother, Bruce (Kim) Gibbons of Carrier Mills; a sister, Julie Gibbons of Energy; two nieces, Kaci Sumner of Portland, Ore. and Molly Gibbons of Carrier Mills; two nephews, Kory and Kody Sumner of Portland, Ore.; a great-niece, Madilyn Sumner of Portland, Ore.; stepmother, Sharon Gibbons of Carrier Mills; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents; William and Florence Noonan; paternal grandparents, Ray and Carrie Gibbons; and two special dogs, Rocky and Kippy.
