Robert Wilburn Kingery Sr.

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Robert Wilburn Kingery Sr., 77, of Groveland, Fla., passed away at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at South Lake Hospital in Clermont, Fla.

He was born in Emma on April 21, 1931, the son of Velta Wilburn and Fleda May (Acord) Kingery. On Sept. 5, 1953, he married Dorothy May "Bunny" Boycott.

He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, having served in Korea and Vietnam where he received numerous awards including two Bronze Stars, one with valor. Upon retiring from the military, he returned to Illinois working as a mover with Atlas Van Lines and operating Forbes State Park concessions with his wife. He served as master for the Masonic John D. Moody Lodge in Iuka and was worthy patron of the Eastern Star of Kinmundy. Later, he moved to Groveland, Fla.

Bob is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Bunny" Kingery of Groveland, Fla.; five sons, Robert W. and Carly Kingery Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., Don and Pamela Kingery of Cedar City, Utah, Dan and Elaine Kingery of Centralia, Michael and Kellie Kingery of Montrose, Colo., and William and Christine Kingery of Charles Town, W. Va.; a daughter, Melissa and Bruce Moeser of Bridgeview; two sisters, June Drone of Ridgway and Kathy Cottom of Metropolis; three brothers, James Kingery of Shawneetown, Keith Kingery of Eldorado and Joseph Kingery of Raleigh, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sharon Kingery; and two brothers, William and Donald Kingery.

A graveside service will be held for Bob at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Union Ridge Cemetery near New Haven with military rites by the Ridgway American Legion Post No. 596. Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway in charge of local arrangments. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
