</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[LaVerne Cooper, 90, of Harrisburg, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at the Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.

She was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Harrisburg, to the late Harrison and Louetta (Mick) Kibler.

She was a retired cashier, having worked as credit manager for Hart's Department Store and Lloyd L. Parker Furniture. She was a member of Dorrisville Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl and husband Mike McCall of Herrin; granddaughter, Morgan McCall of Herrin; brother, Bill and wife Jessie Kibler of Marion; and two sisters, Olive Pavelonis and Betty Thomas, both of Harrisburg. Several nieces and nephews survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wendell Kibler; and three sisters, Audrey Kibler, Lenore Hicks, Ruth Dorris and Wanda Davidson.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Reed Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
