Mildred Collier Harrington
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mildred Collier Harrington, 88, of Marion, formerly of Ridgway, passed away at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Herrin Hospital in Herrin.
She was born June 14, 1920, in Golconda to Edward and Cora (McClusky) Shelby.
Mildred was employed at the Chicago Rawhide Company of Elgin and Ridgway Golden Circle as a cook for many years and was a resident of Parkway Manor in Marion for seven years.
She first married Howard A. Collier on April 3, 1939, and he preceded her in death on July 18, 1984. On June 14, 1990, she married Leland Harrington and he passed away on July 12, 2004.
Mildred is survived by four daughters, Judy Belford of Ridgway, Joyce and Thomas Carter of Golconda, Sharon and Floyd Thompson of Perryville, Mo. and Carol Sue and Rev. Bernie Cowgill of Eldorado; one son, Don and Connie Collier of Raleigh; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents; husbands; and two brothers, Melvin and Hallie Shelby.
Visitation for Mildred will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2009, with the Rev. Robert Patton and Rev. Bernie Cowgill officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at Jackson Cemetery near Ridgway.
