Robert Orval Hudnell

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Robert Orval Hudnell, 78, of Harrisburg, passed away at Harrisburg Medical Center on Thursday, March 5, 2009.

He was born on March 5, 1931, in Saline County to the late Orval and Helen (Johnson) Hudnell. On July 24, 1966, he married Meta Mathias and she preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 1996.

Robert was a custodian for the Unit No. 3 School District and was a warehouseman for Sahara Coal. He was a Social Brethren by faith. He was also an Air Force veteran serving in Korea.

Surviving family members include a son, Robert Hudnell and wife Jamie of Marion; daughter, Ethel Lee Spencer and husband Jim of Easley, S.C.; sister, Gaynelle Davis and husband Bob of Harrisburg; special caregiver, Jeanie Vinyard of Harrisburg; and grandchildren, Shelby and Savannah Spencer and Abbie and Nick Hudnell.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Bernie Cowgill will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Spring Valley Cemetery. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
