Wenona B. Patterson

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Wenona B. Patterson, 87, Galatia, passed away at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Ferrell Hospital.

She was born in Carmen, Okla., on Sept. 4, 1921, to Jim and Ada (Garvin) Goss. On April 26, 1944, she married Howard Patterson in Valparaiso, Ind.

She was a homemaker and a devoted mother and wife. In addition, she was a book keeper for Tate Township for 40 years. She was a member of Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Galatia.

She is survived by three sons, Jim (Pat) Patterson and Tom (Sharon) Patterson of Galatia and Bill (Sharon) Patterson of Pinckneyville.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Cheryl Patterson Dreyer, Tammy Kincannon, Joni Patterson Diggins, David Patterson, Bryan Hall, Melissa Lazenby, Brandi Fletcher, Tawmi Miller, Jamie Patterson, Dustin Patterson and Jordan Patterson. Also surviving are 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her youngest son, Richard; her parents; and a brother, Robert Goss.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Sloan Funeral Home. Interment will be in Lebanon Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Lebanon Cemetery or Visiting Nurses Association.
