Afton Wall

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Afton Wall, 74, of Palzo Road, Creal Springs, died 8:25 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 6, 1935, in the McCormick community of Pope County to Carlos and Edith (Loless) McCormick. On May 2, 1953, she married Donald Wall, who survives.

She worked as a cook for 10 years at Creal Springs School. She was a member of Mt. Moriah General Baptist Church in Creal Springs for over 60 years.

She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Sherry (Mark) Fulkerson of Harrisburg, Cathy (Jeff) Owens of Creal Springs and Deanna Katz of Cape Coral, Fla.; a son, Donald R. (Cathy) Wall of Harrisburg; two sisters, Barbara Newbolds of Tucson, Ariz. and Christine (Art) Webber of Dahlgren; a sister-in-law, Juanita McCormick of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren, Brandon (Christine) Hankins, Brittni Hankins, Shawn (Tayler) Owens, Dan McChesney, Danielle Rennie Widger, Mechelle (Aaron) Rawlings, Megan Wall and Dena Rennie; and five great-grandchildren, Kadynce Sanders, Ali Hankins, Landen Herren, Kenady Herren and Tucker Rawlings.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Maxine Sims Holmes; and a brother, Carlos Archie McCormick.

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Edward "Shorty" Alsip and the Rev. Howard McDannel officiating. Burial will be in Drake Cemetery, Creal Springs.

The family prefers memorials to the Mt. Moriah General Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
