Charles W. Rogers

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Charles W. Rogers, 62, of Carrier Mills, died 6:05 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

He was born Oct. 27, 1946, in Harrisburg to Nathaniel Rogers and Stella Barnett Hartford. On June 25, 1977, he married Judith Hagstrom, who survives.

He was a retired coal miner.

He is survived by his wife, Judith; his mother, Stella Hartford of Kentucky; two sons, Charles W. Rogers II of Carrier Mills and David Rogers of Harrisburg; a stepson, Gerald Heikkinen; a stepdaughter, Julie (Robert) Plunkett; a special niece, Nikki (Kevin) Hawkins of Harrisburg; three great-nephews; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Vaughn Rogers.

There was no visitation. Graveside services were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Salem Cemetery with the Rev. Joey Dunning officiating. Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of the arrangements.

The family prefers memorials in his memory to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
