Purpole Elbert Hancock

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Purpole Elbert Hancock, 75, of Indianapolis, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at the Richard L. Roudebush V.A. Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 28, 1933, in Harrisburg to the late Pinkney and Maudie (Parish) Hancock.

Purpole was a cement mason and was an avid square dancer.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Elizabeth Angel; three sons, Ray (Jeanna) Hancock, Richard Hancock and David Hall; one daughter, Leslie (Steve) Brown; a brother, Rodney Hancock; a sister, Myrna Fink; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Hancock; seven brothers; and five sisters.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, and a funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, Ind. 46143.
