Ted W. Cowsert
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Ted W. Cowsert, 74, of Orange City, Fla., passed away Jan. 1, 2009, in Orange City after an extended illness. He was surrounded by his family.
Ted was born on June 4, 1934, in the Saline Mines area south of Shawneetown to the late Charles Jr. and Emma (Thompson) Cowsert.
On Feb. 19. 1959, he married the love of his life, Christiane (Forgit) Cowsert in Roschfort, France. Ted served his country for 23 years in the United States Army and then became chief of police in Ridgway before moving to Florida, where he was a home builder, painter and driver for Deland Ford. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Ted was a good man, husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and friend; he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Ted leaves behind the following family members: wife, Christiane Cowsert, Orange City, Fla.; son, Donald (Donna) Cowsert, Orange City, Fla.; two daughters, Patricia (Kevin) Higgins of Deltona, Fla. and Dianna (Michael) Noreen, Deland, Fla.; grandchildren, Sandrine (George) Antequera, Timothy Locklear, Scott Noreen, who is stationed in Iraq, Johnny Sorrentino and Christy Sorrentino; two great-grandchildren, Brent and Emma Antequera; two sisters, Estella (Harry) Economou of West Frankfort and Charlyn (Donald) Bradley of Vienna; a brother, Hershel (Cathy) Cowsert of Mounds; two aunts, Wilma Bradley of Junction and Inez Cowsert of Eldorado; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
Funeral service will be held at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, with the family receiving friends after 1 p.m. Interment will be in the Wolf Creek Cemetery in Eldorado with military rites.
