Wilbur Lewis Hughey

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Wilbur Lewis Hughey of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away at his home Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, of natural causes.

Wilbur, 83, was born in Canon City, Colo., to Douglas and Mollie Hughey. Wilbur was a World War II veteran, ordained minister, member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ and a certified chaplain supervisor. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed woodworking and traveling.

Wilbur is survived by his wife, Ann and children, Donna Longone (Robert), Stanley Hughey (Karen), Kenneth Hughey (Nadine), Peggy Woolard (Mickey), David Hughey (Jacque), 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation was from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at lies Grandview Park Funeral Home, 3211 Hubbell Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at First Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Christian Church, 2500 University or to the Veterans Hospital, Attn: Connie Slavin, 3600 30th St., Des Moines, Iowa 50310.

Arrangements are in the charge of Iles Funeral Homes Grandview Park Chapel.
